Once we arrive, we’ll take you on a guided tour of the island’s cultural and natural highlights. You’ll have the chance to visit fascinating sites like the Lavender Farm, Stavkirke Church, Jacobsen Museum, Farm Museum, Mountain Park Lookout Tower, Historic Island Dairy, and Nelson’s Hall, all from the comfort and excitement of your Segway.

Our guided tour will take you across the length of the island, where you’ll take in the beauty of canopied roads and stunning shorelines. And don’t worry about feeling tired – we’ve planned plenty of stops along the way so you can enjoy the sites without getting worn out.

Your ticket price includes a roundtrip ferry ride to and from Washington Island, your choice of a box lunch (or a restaurant lunch depending on the season), a Segway PT lesson, and a glide around the island. Meet

Make a reservation ahead of time. We meet near the Washington Island Ferry dock in Northport and train in the parking lot before riding the Segway right onto the ferry (included in the price). You will enjoy the ferry ride to the island and the tour guide will take your lunch order. At some point on the glide, the guide may give you a choice between attractions to visit. About five hours later, you will return to your car.

Train

The Segway PT trainer trains each participant one at a time on the Segway PT.

Practice

After being trained, it is best to practice your stops and turns in order to learn to trust the Segway (TRUST is the key). So far, this has taken about 2 – 25 minutes depending on the size of the group (there is always at least a 1:9 ratio between guides and FUN SEEKERS)

We take the ferry to the island then head out on the Segway PT into historic, serene, and beautiful places on Washington Island.

What is the maximum number of people allowed on a tour?

The tour size is kept at 8 people unless there is one group booking together. However, if there are more than 8 people in your group, you must call to book as we have more than 50 Segways available.

Do you have to have GOOD BALANCE to ride a Segway PT?

No. You just have to TRUST the Segway and it will balance you. Don’t worry, we don’t expect you to trust the Segway at the very start but trust will come.

Why don’t you have the location on your website for where we meet for our tour?

We don’t want people to show up for their tour without a reservation because we will not have a Segway for you. When you make your reservation we give you the meeting location (or look at this link to see all our tour meeting locations).

Will I be trained on how to use the Segway?

Yes, we start with a training session that lasts between 10 to 30 minutes depending on group size and comfort level. As soon as everyone is comfortable, we take off!

What should I wear?

Best to wear comfortable shoes. Also, it is always a little cooler on the Segway.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

You will be provided a bicycle helmet free of charge. You may bring your own helmet if you wish.

What happens if it rains?

We will provide rain ponchos but you may cancel (with a full refund) or reschedule in case for rain.

Can I take pictures during the tour?

Yes, you can take pictures during the tour, and your guide will also take pictures for you. You will be provided with a link to the photos soon after the tour, and it's completely FREE.

Do we stand the whole time?

No, for most tours, there is one stop where we get off the Segway to rest our feet. As tours are in small groups, we can also stop as desired for the group.

How will I hear the tour guide?

The tour guide is a wealth of information about the area and will take periodic pauses to share. Feel free to ask the guide about the history or nature around.

Can I bring a bag or purse with me on the tour?

Yes, there is a handlebar bag for items.

Is it necessary to make reservations in advance?

Yes, it is necessary to make a reservation ahead of time as we transport the Segways to the tour locations and need to know in advance how many guests are participating. To increase your chance of getting your preferred day and time, it's recommended to book well in advance, which can be done online or over the phone.

Are there booking fees?

Tax and booking fees added to the price of the tour.

What are the age restrictions to do a tour?

Although riding a Segway is relatively easy, we require that all riders be at least close to 11 years of age (you know your child best. An adult or guardian must accompany children under 18.

What are the weight restrictions to ride a Segway?

There are no weight restrictions for our tours but a person must be comfortable on their feet and not have issues climbing stairs without assistance. It is best that the participant is at least close to 70 lbs. or more.

What are the physical requirements to ride a Segway?

Riders should have the ability to climb and descend stairs without assistance. Anyone who is exceptionally overweight, or physically infirmed, (not having the ability to climb upon and stand on the Segway PT for periods of time) should reconsider doing this tour.

Is the tour suitable for pregnant women?

No, pregnant women are not allowed to ride on the Segway PT for safety reasons. There is a possibility that you would fall.

Can a younger child ride with a parent/adult?

No. The Segway is designed for one rider. In many cases, you can rent a bike for them to bring them along.

Can I rent a Segway?

We don’t just rent a Segway PT but if you have a specific place you would like to go please call us and we can design a tour especially for you or send a tour guide to accompany you at a location of your choice.

Are Segways available for private tours and other events?

Yes. We love to “Come to You” with our Segways.

We have gone on quite a few Segway tours. This one by far, the 1/2 day Washington Island tour, was the best. We met another great couple and Brian, our tour guide, was great! We are definitely coming back for more!

He shared extensive knowledge of the island and Door County. He encouraged us to go at our own pace, and was open to going wherever we wanted to go. It was a very relaxed day! We had the best time touring Washington Island! When looking for a Segway tour, it was important to us that our 15 year old daughter be able to do it with us (most Segway tours required 16 years of age). We came across this tour and had the best time. Our guide was patient in teaching us how to ride and was very knowledgeable with the sites. The only hiccup we had was that our lunch took forever to get delivered to us but that only meant we got to spend more time at Schoolhouse Beach...darn! Highly recommend this tour and can't wait to try out another one soon!

We did multiple activities during our trip to Door County and the Segway tour of Washington Island was the most fun we had by far. Our tour guides name was Leaf (like what on a tree) and he was so fun and friendly. He took us everywhere on the island that I wanted to see and explained everything along the way. We learned so much about the Island and got to see things that we would have missed without a guided tour. The segway can be intimidating for a beginner, but Leaf gave us a crash course on them and both me and my husband caught on really quick. Anyone can do it, and they will never fall over. They are super fun and exciting to use.
