Experience the best of both worlds with this combined Segway tour and hike! Your adventure begins with a glide down historic Ridges Road, which passes through the Ridges Sanctuary and Toft Point Nature Preserve. This area is a geographic wonder, with unique plant life and possible sightings of wildlife to see along the way.

Near the end of the Segway glide, we will embark on a 2-mile guided hike into the Toft Nature Preserve, where you can immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of nature. Along the way, you’ll learn about the history of the fishing industry around Baileys Harbor and visit the fishing boats. We will also explore an old settlement in the woods, offering a journey through time.

Meet

Make your reservation ahead of time and we meet at the starting location of the tour.

Train

The Segway tour guide trains each participant one at a time on the use of the Segway Personal Transporter.

Practice

After being trained, it is best to practice your stops and turns in order to learn to trust the Segway (TRUST is the key). So far, this has taken about 2 – 25 minutes depending on the size of the group (there is always at least a 1:9 ratio between guides and FUN SEEKERS)

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum number of people allowed on a tour?

The tour size is kept at 8 people unless there is one group booking together. However, if there are more than 8 people in your group, you must call to book as we have more than 50 Segways available.

Do you have to have GOOD BALANCE to ride a Segway PT?

No. You just have to TRUST the Segway and it will balance you. Don’t worry, we don’t expect you to trust the Segway at the very start but trust will come.

Why don’t you have the location on your website for where we meet for our tour?

We don’t want people to show up for their tour without a reservation because we will not have a Segway for you. When you make your reservation we give you the meeting location (or look at this link to see all our tour meeting locations).

Will I be trained on how to use the Segway?

Yes, we start with a training session that lasts between 10 to 30 minutes depending on group size and comfort level. As soon as everyone is comfortable, we take off!

What should I wear?

Best to wear comfortable shoes. Also, it is always a little cooler on the Segway.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

You will be provided a bicycle helmet free of charge. You may bring your own helmet if you wish.

What happens if it rains?

We will provide rain ponchos but you may cancel (with a full refund) or reschedule in case for rain.

Can I take pictures during the tour?

Yes, you can take pictures during the tour, and your guide will also take pictures for you. You will be provided with a link to the photos soon after the tour, and it's completely FREE.

Do we stand the whole time?

No, for most tours, there is one stop where we get off the Segway to rest our feet. As tours are in small groups, we can also stop as desired for the group.

How will I hear the tour guide?

The tour guide is a wealth of information about the area and will take periodic pauses to share. Feel free to ask the guide about the history or nature around.

Can I bring a bag or purse with me on the tour?

Yes, there is a handlebar bag for items.

Is it necessary to make reservations in advance?

Yes, it is necessary to make a reservation ahead of time as we transport the Segways to the tour locations and need to know in advance how many guests are participating. To increase your chance of getting your preferred day and time, it's recommended to book well in advance, which can be done online or over the phone.

Are there booking fees?

Tax and booking fees added to the price of the tour.

What are the age restrictions to do a tour?

Although riding a Segway is relatively easy, we require that all riders be at least close to 11 years of age (you know your child best. An adult or guardian must accompany children under 18.

What are the weight restrictions to ride a Segway?

There are no weight restrictions for our tours but a person must be comfortable on their feet and not have issues climbing stairs without assistance. It is best that the participant is at least close to 70 lbs. or more.

What are the physical requirements to ride a Segway?

Riders should have the ability to climb and descend stairs without assistance. Anyone who is exceptionally overweight, or physically infirmed, (not having the ability to climb upon and stand on the Segway PT for periods of time) should reconsider doing this tour.

Is the tour suitable for pregnant women?

No, pregnant women are not allowed to ride on the Segway PT for safety reasons. There is a possibility that you would fall.

Can a younger child ride with a parent/adult?

No. The Segway is designed for one rider. In many cases, you can rent a bike for them to bring them along.

Can I rent a Segway?

We don’t just rent a Segway PT but if you have a specific place you would like to go please call us and we can design a tour especially for you or send a tour guide to accompany you at a location of your choice.

Are Segways available for private tours and other events?

Yes. We love to “Come to You” with our Segways.

We had a great time! Jade is a great guide - it was her first tour! If you’re looking for a fun activity, try a Segway tour. Don’t be intimidated if you’ve never ridden a Segway - it’s super easy to learn. If you go in the summer, put bug spray on - the little buggers are aggressive on the hike!

Enjoyed seeing a lot of Baileys Harbor waterfront especially off the beaten path. Lighthouses were a great addition but not the only thing to see. Teens loved the segways too!

We had a blast with Mark!! We took a tour for our honeymoon and had a magnificent experience with his patient teaching, asking questions about what was uncomfortable, and prioritizing feeling 100% safe before taking off. He was so fun to travel around Moonlight Bay with, giving us so much interesting history around Baileys Harbor and The Ridges Sanctuary. He was so accommodating with different photo locations and double checking we were happy with the position and lighting. I really enjoyed how casual the tour was, he gave us options of if we wanted to take more uncommon preserve routes or visit more urban locations. I can't express enough how happy I was to see him chatting with my husband pretty much the whole time, they became fast friends. Thank you Mark!!
